As a multidisciplinary artist/designer/maker my practice involves drawing, installation, film, sound, music, physical computing, VR, animation and games. I have developed and delivered digital artworks, technology demonstrations and practical workshops at conferences, festivals and exhibitions in the UK, Europe, USA, South Africa and Asia.
As a Senior Lecturer at University of York, my teaching has been situated in fine art, game design, filmmaking and postproduction at Undergraduate and Masters level. For the last 15 years my research has mainly resided in the field of art and Human-Computer Interaction and has involved publications, workshops and demonstrations at a variety of conferences. My current research interests include ‘purposeful’ VR experiences for heritage settings, horror games in psychology and the development of the participatory mobile documentary filmmaking platform OurStory, currently in use by International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
